Michael H. Gillick is a resident of Wisconsin. He graduated with a master's degree in philosophy from St. Louis University in 1967, a law degree from Marquette University in 1973 and a doctorate in philosophy from Marquette University in 2004. Mr. Gillick has lectured in Wisconsin and elsewhere in the United States in law, and has also delivered papers in philosophy in the United States and Canada. His primary interest in joining this site is the application of phenomenological method to the question of wisdom. His primary influence is the work of Emmanuel Levinas, a 20th century philosopher whose two main works are Totality and Infinity and Otherwise than Being.
Mr. Gillick feels that defining, or understanding, wisdom requires first a correct definition of what it is to be human, and that can only be done by correctly analyzing the primary event of consciousness.
